  • Abstract
    A novel configuration for a static VAr compensator (of fundamental harmonic reactive power) is proposed. The compensator operates by controlling coupled reactors through force-commutated switches. The compensator is compared with traditional systems and its specific advantages, including cost factors, are discussed
