Abstract
Under contaminated and wet environment the insulation characteristic of the insulation surface in the switchgear deteriorates. The tracking and flashover characteristics of insulating materials for the indoor equipment were examined. Based on the result of the examination, a switchgear was developed which has a dehumidifier that automatically turns on to remove moisture only when the interior humidity is high. This system has proved very effective in improving the reliability of the switchgear.
