Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) based NetFPGA Platform for Peer-to-Peer (P2P) live streaming delivery in EPON. In the proposed architecture, using the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), we design new locality awareness mechanisms in OLT to improve the Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic localization utilization of P2P live streaming traffic. By using the NetFPGA incorporate with the ISP information interface, the OLT modifies, optimizes peer list information and directs the peers to achieve high ISP level of traffic locality. Consequently, the inter traffic domain can be reduced and the local peers can receive better QoS performance, since they are served from the local subnet. Finally, we propose a new Local-aware Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (LDBA), allocating the Intra-Internet Service Provider (ISP) traffic and Inter-ISP traffic efficiently. Simulation results show that our proposed architecture can improve the overall QoS in terms of mean packet loss, system throughputs, mean packet delay, and reduce the Inter-traffic bandwidth.
