Abstract :
No-load currents, losses and forces obtained- by a numerical field calculation method are compareda- with the conventional calculation for balanced sinusoidal and nonsinusoidal terminal voltages. Measurements- are presented to justify some of the assumptions- made in the analysis. The no-load quantities derived from the two methods show a good agreement. However, the numerical field approach is more general and can be applied to a larger class of problems. Part I of this paper gives the layout of the procedure of the proposed analysis.
