Abstract :
It has been shown that shield interrupts on transmission- cables can be subjected to extremely high overvoltages- under a variety of transient conditions. [1]1 This paper describes the shield-interrupt protection requirements using metal-oxide- varistor (MOV) surge arresters as well as the shield-interrupt insulation requirements on 138-kV extruded dielectric cable systems.
