Abstract :
Solid tray covers are used in power generating station cable tray systems. The published literature contains little data about the effects of tray covers on cable operating temperatures, and the National Electrical Code provides limited guidance. An analytic method for determining the allowable ampacity of cable in covered tray is developed and presented. The results of an experiment with a solid tray cover are presented and compared with predicted values.
