Abstract :
Surface flashover and tracking breakdown tests were carried out on rubber insulating gloves under various relative humidities and fog and rain conditions, and on gloves which have been exposed outdoors for various periods of time. When gloves are exposed outdoors, cracks and recesses form on the glove surfaces. Direct exposure to rain and fog has a noticeable effect on the flashover voltage. With an increase in the period of exposure outdoors, the time to tracking breakdown decreases.
