  • Abstract
In short-term hydro-thermal scheduling, proper coordination of energy limited import resources with existing hydro-thermal resources often results in a significant improvement in utility revenue and system operating conditions. To investigate the effect of interchange resource scheduling, a peak-shaving method (PSM) and an economic scheduling method (ESM) have been applied, in a situation where a very detailed hydro model is required, to solve a hydro subsystem scheduling problem including interchange import. Based on a basic interchange scheduling strategy, the results demonstrate a need for coordination between the hydro and the interchange subsystems. The proposed coordination strategy provides up 1.6% production cost saving and 2.9% extra hydro yield, which are relatively significant
