Abstract :
Transient stability improvement with the help of a full wave thyristor controlled dynamic brake has been investigated by the authors1,3. The present paper deals with the investigations regarding the transient stability improvement of the power system making use of an alternate scheme of thyristor controlled dynamic brake namely the half wave version. Investigations include the development of a mathematical. model of half wave thyristor controlled dynamic brake and the harmonic analysis of the line currents of the system to which the device is connected.
