An efficient approach to the computer-aided transient analysis of lumped-distributed linear networks is presented. The method is based on obtaining the transfer function of the circuit by symbolic techniques and the transient response is computed using the fast Fourier transform (FFT), the shifting parameter

and the new two-dimensional weighting factors

. Experimental observations give ample evidence of good agreement between the theoretical and computed results for different values of

and

. The algorithm used provides a large saving in computing time and computer memory when compared with available techniques.
