  • Abstract
    A 10-Gb/s dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) transport system based on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers injection-locked technique and large effective area fiber (LEAF) transport is proposed and demonstrated. Improved bit-error-rate performance was observed over a 60-km LEAF transport, attributed to the laser frequency chirp and chromatic dispersion reductions. This demonstrated that such a DWDM transport system is very attractive for the 10-Gb/s backbone applications, which can interoperate with high-speed optical communication networks.
