Abstract :
A series of balloon-borne experiments to search for particles of cosmic origin is being planned. The experimental apparatus to be borne on the balloon includes a drift chamber as one of its main components. Flash analog-to-digital convertors digitize signals from the chamber at the rate of 30 megacycles/s. The apparatus on the balloon is linked by radio to a ground station. The apparatus is remotely controlled through a terminal placed at the ground station. A description is given of the apparatus on the balloon, data transmission from the balloon to the ground station, the software on the balloon, command transmission, and the computer complex at the ground station
