Abstract
Typical cbjects in the residential environrent are suspected to provide sufficient shielding to significantly reduce the strength of electric fields produced by nearby transmission lines below the levels calculated by mast analytical techniques. Yet, there is little support found in published materials to substantiate this point. This paper presents measurements of actual field strength in such areas and compares them to calculated values. Data such as those reported herein are necessary to accurately assess human exposure to electric fields.
