Abstract :
This paper suggests the use of concept mapping and an approach for the use of concept modules as primary-learning units for Web-based and CD-ROM-based RF and microwave education. A brief discussion on the notion of concepts relates them to the assimilation theory of education. The role of concept mapping in the learning process is emphasized. A generic structure for proposed concept modules is discussed. Examples are included to illustrate the approach. For a detailed case study, a hyperlink to a companion tutorial article in this TRANSACTIONS is provided in the electronic version of this paper. Advantages of the proposed approach for a Web-based asynchronous learning environment are highlighted.
