Abstract
The use of SF6 gas-insulated bushings has been well accepted in the industry for voltages up to 362 kV. This design is simple and thus offers cost advantages, but when extended to 500 kV and above, cost penalties can occur due to the large size required. The bushings are limited in effectiveness in regards to grading the electrical stresses both in the radial and axial directions.
