Abstract :
In this paper, an improved design of CMOS down-conversion mixer for UWB systems is proposed. The mixer is designed using a 0.18μm CMOS technology. The proposed mixer is based on the Gilbert cell and uses a source degeneration technique to increase the conversion gain and improve the noise figure. It provides a good isolation between the RF-IF port. The maximum conversion gain of the proposed mixer is 6.584dB. The minimum noise figure is 0dBm at 3.2GHz RF signal and the IIP3 value is -2dBm. The 1dB compression point for the proposed mixer is 3.853dBm. The power consumption of the circuit is 11.023mW. The value of S11 is approximately zero in the entire frequency range. The IF frequency is 250MHz. The RF power is -25dBm and the power of LO is 13dBm.
