Abstract :
This paper presents the hardware and software structure of the smart plug in module for automobiles that is fuel efficient as well as power efficient. This module plugs directly into each individual injector and electronically controls the injectors from the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The functions of the modules are acceleration enrichment or deceleration cut-off using pulse width modification (PWM). PIC24FJ64GA004 microcontroller is used. Graphical User Interface (GUI) is implemented which communicates with the controller using the serial port. RPM, Frequency values can be continuously monitored on a laptop or desktop and commands for acceleration enrichment, etc can be given from the GUI. All the configuration settings are stored in a serial EEPROM. Experimental results that prove the functionality of the designed module in the laboratory is presented.
