Abstract
The use of the large-deviation approximation is discussed for computing the reliability of two generating systems having correlated loads and interconnected by a transmission tie-line of a given capacity. The necessary formulas are derived and applied to a prototype two-area system model. Numerical results show that the proposed approximation is quite accurate. Information is provided on the speed of the algorithm
