Abstract
Corona-generated ozone is one of the parameters considered in evaluating the environmental impact of high voltage ac and dc transmission lines. Measurements of ozone levels near an operating 735-kV ac line and near a test line with ±900-kV and ±450-kV dc line configurations are reported in this paper. A detailed statistical analysis of the measured data shows that the contributions to ambient ozone levels by the three transmission lines are low enough to cause negligible impact on ambient air quality.
