Abstract :
Environmental constraints, scarcity of certain fuels, wide differences in the fuel prices, nature of fuel contracts, etc. have complicated the optimal fuel scheduling problem. Coal trauisloading facilities with the capability of blending different fuels is one method used to obtain added flexibility in controlling the sulfur content of coal delivered to various generating plants. This paper demonstrates that such a facility can be modeled and the optimization of deliveries obtained by the use of some general linear programming techniques but that some other desirable algorithms commonly used are excluded.
