Abstract :
Some of the basic equations and physics associated with a finite-geometry, relativistic beam-plasma system in an external axially periodic magnetic field are presented. The electromagnetic eigenmodes associated with such a system are determined, the boundary conditions are discussed, and the conditions under which coupling between these modes and with plasma waves is introduced by the finite-geometry effects, relativistic effects, and the external periodic magnetic field are studied
