Abstract :
The 13th International Symposium on Electrets (ISE 13) took place September 14¿18, 2008, in Tokyo, Japan. The chairman of the symposium, Professor Takeo Furukawa from the Tokyo University of Science (TUS or Tokyo Rika Daigaku), had chosen the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation), as conference venue. More than 160 participants from all over the world enjoyed the inspiring and thought-provoking atmosphere of the new Daiba area of Tokyo. This city of the future is built on new land (landfill) in Tokyo Bay. Its features include novel technologies such as driverless public transport, energy-efficient innovative architecture, and exhibits of ideas and concepts for new products.
