Abstract
This paper discusses the most desirable dimensions for closed antennas. The total resistance of the antenna is broken down into its several components. It is shown that the greatest losses are the dielectric losses in the earth and near-by objects, and formulas are given for calculating this component. Means are discussed for reducing the dielectric losses.
