Abstract :
An evaluation is presented of generator Markov models used to obtain indices of unit reliability. Indices from the various models and compared to determine the impact of explicitly modeling operating considerations such as unit duty cycles, outage postponability, and starting failures. The models investigated are commonly used for generator system reliability studies. Variations in outage postponability distributions and their impact on unit indices are also investigated
