Abstract
PLATINE, a computerized system for help planning power transmission networks, is discussed. The software involves as database as well as computation and network-optimization models which are related to each other by means of a conversational data-processing chain with a very large degree of graphic interactivity. PLATINE calls up a front-end computer to manage the database and execute the models that require the most computerpower. A minicomputer connected to the front-end is used for the other models and the interactive graphics dialogue
