Abstract :
Simultaneous radio range and telephone service has been in demand on the airways of the United States for several years. A simple method of obtaining this service has been developed and is now being gradually applied to the airways. Various methods of obtaining simultaneous service are discussed. The effect of linear and square-law detection used with single side-band and double side-band transmission of the range tone have been analyzed. The single side-band method appears to offer the most practical solution to the problem when used with a linear detector.
