Abstract :
The author argues that the main contribution of the original paper (see ibid., vol.17, p.983-90, 2002) is the definition of symmetric /spl lambda/-i characteristics for asymmetric three-phase transformers with three limbs. The analysis shows that such transformers have magnetizing currents with more than one maximum and minimum. Such three-limb transformers are relatively insensitive to the generation of reactive power Q-and the resulting voltage drop V-due to balanced DC currents caused by imperfect gating, geomagnetically induced currents, and nuclear explosions producing a low-frequency pulse. In this paper , the author asks various questions about the original authors´ results.
