Abstract
The authors present and demonstrate a novel method in which, by multiplying the autocorrelation functions of two low coherence sources, a synthesised source with a dominant central fringe is generated for use in white light interferometry. It is found that this method can further reduce the minimum signal to noise ratio required to identify the central fringe position, when compared with the summation method reported previously. This method offers a better synthesised source for white light interferometry
