  • Abstract
    Bend loss in over-moded fibre has been measured as a function of temperature. For the LP11 mode, an oscillatory loss dependence on temperature was observed, caused by coupling between the LP11 mode and a `whispering gallery´ mode. These interactions could have a significant effect on singlemode cutoff wavelength measurements
