Abstract :
Based on the assumptions of quasistatic behavior, linear system properties, and two- dimensional configurations, a multiport circuit representation of multiply-excited magnetic systems is derived by utilizing the finite-element method of solution. This circuit model is used to simulate a variety of terminal constraints such as short- or open- circuited ports, series or parallel connections of conductors, and other specific terminations which can then be incorporated into the finite-element field calculations. This combined circuit-field approach is applied to a simple generic two-conductor magnetic system configuration illustrating, in particular, how high- frequency eddy-current effects are accounted for in the evaluation of the equivalent circuit parameters.
