Abstract :
The behavior of the magnet power supplies for MIT´s experimental tokamak, Alcator-C, is studied using both time and frequency domain data obtained from the actual system. Measured supply parameters, particularly the commutating inductance, are compared to the calculated or specified values on which the supply design was based. Good correspondence is shown to exist. Emperical evidence is presented to support the use of the subtansient inductance to model a large turboalternator during rectifier commutation.
