Abstract :
Frequency selective surfaces (FSS) consisting of densely packed linear dipoles have reflection bandwidths exceeding an octave. A transmission line equivalent circuit for these arrays is described. It can be used for design work or in initial trials without the need to write complex modal analysis software. It predicts the various band-edge frequencies and closely models the transmission curves across a wide range of angles of incidence and frequency, covering the low transmission band, the roll-off region, and much of the wide reflection region that these FSS offer. The model includes the relative permittivity and the thickness of the dielectric substrate material explicitly.
