Abstract :
A new photon avalanche mechanism has been observed in Er:ZBLAN fibre when pumped at 700 nm; this pump scheme corresponds to the excited state absorptions from 4I13/2 and 4I 11/2. Experimental results of pump power dependence and build-up process are reported
