Abstract :
A surface emitting two-dimensional photonic crystal laser diode operated under continuous wave current injection is reported. The laser was realised in an InGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs system, with threshold current reduced to 40 mA. As a result, the device was successfully operated under continuous wave conditions at -20°C.
