Abstract :
In this note it is shown that the 2-D composition frac{A(z_1,z_2)A(z_{1}^{-1},z_{2}^{-1})} {B(z_1,z_2)B(z_{1}^{-1},z_{2}^{-1})} = frac{P(z_1,z_2)}{B(z_1,z_2)} + frac{P(z_{1}^{-1},z_{2}^{-1})}{B(z_{1}^{-1},z_{2}^{-1})} contrary to the 1-D case, does not exist in general. Conditions for the existence of such a decomposition are obtained and applied to two examples.
