Abstract :
Necessary and sufficient topological conditions for a lossless 1-port to be canonic have been discovered and proved. All the currently known canonic structures, comprising the classical Foster and Cauer forms and the five more recently discovered networks, are special cases of the general class of canonic 1-ports described here.
