  • Abstract
    This paper describes the results of full scale, 3-phase short-circuit tests on a rigid bus assembly designed for 230kV operation. An investigation was conducted into the momentary withstand capabilities of the installation under actual short circuit conditions. A comparison of test results was made with methods proposed in the literature for the structural design of substation bus systems to withstand short circuit loads. Results indicate that existing design procedures are conservative.
