Abstract
Techniques to locate and indicate faulted gas sections are needed in the event of ground faults of SF6 gas insulated equipment, especially of gas insulated substations (GIS) and gas insulated buses (GIB). The authors have developed mechanical sensors operating on shock acceleration by making use of the dynamic characteristics of the tanks, which are components of the above equipment. The theoretical and experimental descriptions of the process and the results of the development are introduced.
