Abstract :
The results of other investigations on distribution transformer and system response to lightning strokes to the primary terminal of the transformer are briefly reviewed, from the standpoint of system and transformer currents, and service entrance phase-to-neutral voltage. A simplified lumped parameter model for the transformer and associated distribution system is described. The analysis of this model yields equations for the quantitative determination of the influence of system parameters on the lightning-induced surge currents in distribution transformers, and the service entrance phase-to-neutral voltages
