Abstract
The methodology for establishing thermal loading capability of substation electrical equipment and material should recognize system loading and ambient weather conditions in addition to the unit thermal parameters. Application of a recently developed methodology may show significant potential economic benefits, improved utilization of substation plant investment and satisfactory service performance and equipment maintenance requirements.
