Abstract :
An analytical method was developed to predict the steady-state temperature distribution in the conductor and in the surrounding, composite insulation in the splice of an electric cable. A solution for the longitudinal temperature distribution along the conductor was obtained for a typical configuration with tapered, double layer insulation.
