Gas-Insulated Transmission Cable with Semi-Prefabricated Unit

A new gas-insulated transmission cable was developed aiming at higher insulation reliability and simple installation technique. The main features of the cable are a semi- prefabricated unit filled with SF6 gas, protection layers against contaminants and a stranded conductor laid in the units. Through a series of factory and field tests, it was verified that the electrical, mechanical and thermal performances of the cable were as good and stable as required. The design and the test results obtained will contribute to the realization of more practical gas-insulated cables.
