Abstract
Useful mitigation techniques are presented for the reduction of voltages induced on gas transmission pipelines by 60 Hz ac power transmission lines sharing a joint right-of-way. Part I describes how a joint pipeline/power line corridor can be designed to minimize inductive coupling. This allows installation of the utilities with significantly reduced requirements for pipeline voltage mitigation using grounding techniques.
