Abstract
The effect of derivative gain and other governor parameters on the stability boundaries of a hydraulic turbine generating unit supplying an isolated load is investigated. Root locus method is used for analysis of the effect of governor parameters on the dynamic behavior of the hydroelectric power system. A general guide for optimum adjustment of derivative gain and other parameters is provided.
