Abstract
This paper presents a discussion of regulation error in the load frequency control of a power system. It suggests that good control of a power syspm is more dependent on system constraints and human decisions than on the design of the present day load frequency controller. A model of a two area, two generator power system is simulated and the effects of changing the processing of area control error (ACE) and sampling times are studied. It is found that good control can always be obtained with the proper tuning of parameters and some of these results are presented. Some of the system constraints and operator decisions that can cause regulation error are discussed.
