Abstract :
An analysis of the galloping phenomenon of an aerial figure-8 cable is made with consideration given to various cable mount configurations. Wind tunnel charaterization of the aerodynamic properties led to a solution to the galloping problem involving round snap-on cylinders and limited twist.
