Abstract :
We have found that forming cupric oxide film on the copper strands is an excellent method of insulating coating on the strands, which is a powerful method in increasing the current carrying capacity of the power cable. Also, we have developed the layer-by- layer brazing method for the flexible flush jointing of segmental conductors, and the wrapping-back method for paper insulation of joint, which eliminates penciling for joint. It was confirmed that the above two methods are superior methods for flexible joint of large capacity submarine oil-filled cable.
