Abstract :
"Physical" philosophy of Fourier Transform approach is presented, and formalism discussed in 1-, 2-, and 3-dimensional problems. Application is made to the dissipative wave equation in three dimensions, and the responses are found for (1) distributed driving force, (2) relaxation from initial conditions, and (3) time-varying boundary conditions. One-dimensional heat-flow problems are also discussed.
