Abstract
An experimental study, at ReD= 3.8 × 103, has been performed to study the effects of placement of boundary-layer-submerged control-cylinder of small diameter and height in the upstream symmetric region of a main cylinder at a gap of 0.75D on laminar junction flow. The study is performed using 2D Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Results of the experiment demonstrate the ability of this controlling method to mitigate the strength of baseline horseshoe vortex system formed at the junction region.
