Abstract :
Part of our romance with the universe is its sheer enormity. This fascination with our place and our origin transcends professional, cultural, and historical boundaries. Images are a particularly valuable currency of exchange across these boundaries. The paper considers how computer graphics makes the universe accessible, giving substance to voyages of the scientific imagination. It discusses the visualisation of scientific results.<>
